A Thousand Voices

by YULES

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

"A Thousand Voices" is a thousand voices long silenced. Among them are the eternal teenagers, in love with electricity. Also, those who saw life being born and then stop, they come back more serious. On this record, Yules sounds with power and wisdom, through a timelessness and the paradoxes of the seasons. And somehow a reverence for the word "living". During the year and a half of work on the record, we will have talked about The National, The Apartments, Damien Rice, Future Islands and also about the road of rock, the elegance of Rock stars, in general. Above all, we will have talked about freedom and creation, and how these two words go well together. So to achieve both sincere and sober, it took Guillaume Charret (songwriter of Yules), several years of ingestion, digestion, then restitution. It is surely the most courageous path to take because it is the thorniest: the one that consists in choosing or giving up among the thousand possible paths to take. "A Thousand Voices" has furrowed its roots. It returns from the ground, ripe and undeniably elegant. (Lonny)

1.
I feel a thousand voices Deep down inside my head They keep talking, talking So that of my thoughts, I lose the thread I hear a racket in my brain And I try to silence it Oh I miss my quiet days But now it seems, there is no exit When she was not there I knew emptiness and peace I guess I must care If she goes for a long long lease Although I’ve learned to let it go Although I’ve let the muses rest I probed the depths of my soul And she had nothing to suggest I even got away from her But she was present all along I ran so fast, I ran so far after the glory of the songs When she was not there I knew boredom and bounty But I guess I must care if she does set her sights on me When she was not there I knew emptiness and peace I guess I must care If she goes for a long long lease I feel a thousand voices Deep deep down inside my head They keep blowing, blowing So that of my thoughts, I lose the thread I’ve never really given up on you you’ve showed me something to look forward to But I wonder… I’ve never really given up on you you’ve showed me something to look forward to But I wonder… I’ve never really given up on you you’ve showed me something to look forward to But I wonder…
2.
Now I think you understand When I said I was a complicated man You never thought our love would die But it's the way it goes with a complicated guy And I Know, I know Sometimes I wish I could not see this other inside me I am growing, I’m growing I’m trying to be a soul searcher and get to know myself better I want you to be Kind Kind to me I just need you to be Kind Kind to me The game we played was such a trap And during those silent wars, our foundations were sapped We got bored of the lies we drew Like when I swore to you that my love was always true But I hope, I hope That someday you will marry this other inside me I am coping, I’m coping And I’ll be here for the sinking I want you to be Kind Kind to me I just need you to be Kind Kind to me Now I think you understand When I said I was a complicated man

The sky is slow I’m too shy to follow The trees are broken as The words, unspoken The clouds are faster Than I ever wanted My wings are stronger Than I ever needed And I was longing for spring And I was craving for spring
4.
I want to taste it for good I’d better do it now Your kiss is a time bomb and your tongue is the trap If you want to waste your time You have to do it now My life is a chasm I guess I’m on the last lap I can’t wait You see I want to breathe it well I want to do it decently A bit of air I’m distress’ rightful heir I’m on my way I’m on a wrong track I took a shortcut Hidden in my heavy brain And I can’t wait You see I’m distress’ rightful heir I’m on my knees to raise a prayer
5.
Could you play ? Could you play for me ? I feel so I feel so empty Could you play ? Could you play for me ? Your notes will Your notes will fill me ‘Cause if you play for me my wretched life will be away ‘Cause if you play for me my wretched life will be away Just for a moment…
6.
I want you To understand That nothing is really planned Don’t be afraid I need you To focus and reminisce About the times we used to know And how much you care for this And you’re finding parts Missing from your life Everything’s here x 3 Come on x 4 I want you To understand That nothing’s really changed Don’t be afraid The way the things were is The way the things are I mean yesterday Is not that far And you’re finding parts Missing from your life Everything’s here x 3 Come on x 4
7.
There is an ocean between us But I feel we are so near As if there’s no frontier between your hands and mine There is an ocean between us I’ve been waiting for many years and then your smile appears and leads a wanderer to his final line We raised a bridge made of undeniable signs And the distance is like an hourglass that separates us There is an ocean between us And I haven’t found a way To make you feel O.K. When you’re afraid of heights There is an ocean between us And this craving is such That I need to feel the touch of your naked soul clung to mine We raised a bridge made of undeniable signs And the distance is like an hourglass that separates us We cross the bridge that is between your mind and mine And the time that’s left is like an hourglass that separates us We cross the bridge that is between your mind and mine
8.
Maybe there’s a river Maybe there’s a river Where we will find the undeniable truth That’ll hold us tomorrow

As every morning sleeps My brother weeps I try to get used to it I try to keep it a secret inside of me The bell is ringing A child’s coming in The ball is waiting for the break I am too… Life is sweet in your arms I’m laughing again No one can do me any harm No one will feed my pain Life is sweet in your arms I’m laughing again No one can do me any harm No one will feel my pain My whole life to go through You come to my rescue, yes you do Over that detailed view You show me something new, yes you do

YULES France

Plus récemment The Shins ou Radiohead ... more
